Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention. It’s not unlike daydreaming. You may not realise it, but we all experience the hypnotic state in our everyday lives.
Have you ever watched something on TV and not remembered what you’ve just watched, or read a book and not been conscious of time passing, or completely ‘zoned out’ at the gym? If so, you've been in a state of focused attention, not unlike the feeling of being hypnotised.
During hypnosis, you will be guided into a similar state so that beneficial suggestions can be directed towards your subconscious mind.
Whilst you are in a relaxed state, your mind is more responsive to suggestion. In a therapeutic setting, the suggestions are designed to be beneficial to help you change unhelpful thought patterns.
For most, trance will enable you to feel calm and deeply relaxed and aware of your surroundings. You can often hear everything that is being said whilst in your deeply relaxed state and able to bring yourself out of trance at any time should you wish to do so.
No, not at all! You are always in complete control of your mind.
This will depend on the nature of why you are visiting me. As a guide, for anxiety related issues, the number of sessions can vary from 6 – 12 sessions, phobias around 3 (plus initial consultation). However, please note for phobias, most phobia’s fit into this category, however some non-specific phobias may need additional sessions. To stop smoking, this is just the one 2 hour session.
In a nutshell, yes. To get the best results from your session, you must be open to hypnotherapy. If you aren’t open understanding how sessions will benefit you, your subconscious brain will automatically put barriers up in place that will stop positive changes from taking place.
Absolutely yes! Some clients may prefer this as they will be in the comfort of their own home.
